• Former Cal Fire captain sentenced to life for killing fiancée and her son (kcra.com) — A Shingle Springs woman and her 7-year-old son were killed in an August 2025 attack that has now led to multiple life sentences for former Cal Fire captain Darin McFarlin. Prosecutors say he strangled and shot Marissa Divodi-Lessa, then killed her son, while her 9-year-old daughter escaped after pleading for her life before McFarlin fled to Nevada.
