Flooding Shuts Down Wine Country Highways
Caltrans said crews are working to reopen roadways around Sonoma shut down about 5 a.m. today.
SONOMA, CA — Heavy rain and unusually high tides triggered flooding south of Sonoma, forcing the California Department of Transportation to close key stretches of local highways.
A portion of California State Route 12 was shut down from Watmaugh Road to its junction with California State Route 121 south of Sonoma. Highway 121 was also closed from Fremont Drive to its intersection with Highway 12.
Caltrans said the closures began at 5 a.m. today and are expected to remain in place until about 5 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.

In addition, Highway 121 is closed from 0.2 miles north of the Highway 12 junction at Fremont Road to 0.7 miles north of the junction at Eighth Street East in Sonoma County. Officials cited roadway flooding and advised motorists to seek alternate routes.
