Investigators used surveillance video, license plate readers, and witness interviews to narrow in on the suspect, who has been arraigned and is due back in Sonoma County Superior Court on October 6.

2. Beloved, eclectic Oso Sonoma restaurant to close (pressdemocrat.com) — Oso Sonoma, a longtime favorite on Sonoma Plaza, will close on Saturday, Sept. 26, ending a 12-year run of eclectic, locally sourced dishes beloved by Sonoma Valley residents. (sonomacity.org) — Sonoma Valley riders now have clearer options for reaching the wider Bay Area by combining local buses, SMART trains, ferries, and regional buses. The guide walks you from Sonoma Plaza and Route 32 or 40X connections to Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Marin, San Francisco, and even BART, emphasizing flexible, mix-and-match trips you can plan with tools like Google Maps.

4. State grant will help keep invasive mussels out of Lake Mendocino (ukiahdailyjournal.com) — Sonoma-area boaters should know that Sonoma Water has secured a $400,000 state grant to keep invasive mussels out of Lake Mendocino, with inspections continuing through October 2028. The program, which also supports similar protections at Lake Sonoma, relies on quick watercraft checks and even trained detection dogs to prevent damaging mussels from spreading into key local water supply and recreation reservoirs.
