South Pasadena Police Highlight Pedestrian and Child Passenger Safety in September (coloradoboulevard.net) — South Pasadena police are stepping up traffic enforcement this month, with a Sept. 17 operation targeting drivers who endanger pedestrians and a Sept. 20–26 focus on proper child car-seat use. Officers are urging local families to slow down, watch crosswalks, and double-check that kids are in the right seats. New state rules in 2027 will tighten seat-belt standards for ages 8–15.

2. By day, he's a radiologist. For kicks, he's That Peking Duck Guy (thelalocal.org) — A South Pasadena radiologist has turned his backyard into a small-scale Peking duck operation, offering catered events and takeout pop-ups neighbors can pre-order through Instagram. Hong Pham, known online as That Peking Duck Guy, now regularly roasts meticulously prepared ducks in special outdoor ovens, inviting locals to pick up complete meals with sides and soup right in town.

3. How are Altadena and Palisades healing from fires? He's learning it's through their bugs (pasadenastarnews.com) — A South Pasadena High senior is turning his love of insects into serious research, tracking how bugs are returning to fire-scarred Altadena and Pacific Palisades. His work, rooted in the San Gabriel Valley, includes community moth nights, contributions to university-led studies, and leadership of South Pasadena High's Bug Club. He hopes his findings will guide future wildlife conservation across Los Angeles.

4. La Canada scores in final minute to pull out victory over South Pasadena (pasadenastarnews.com) — South Pasadena High's football team fell 29-22 to La Cañada after a last-minute touchdown run, their first loss to the Spartans since 2014. The Tigers' strong ground game, led by senior Evan Hyun, kept the matchup close throughout. South Pasadena now looks to regroup as they head on the road to face Franklin next week.
