• Investigators Seeking Victims In Contra Costa Human Trafficking Case (patch.com) — Walnut Creek–area residents are being urged to help Contra Costa County investigators identify additional victims in a multi-state human trafficking case tied to an Antioch man now jailed on $1 million bail. Authorities say minors and adult women may have been coerced into commercial sex, and they're sharing local phone and tip lines so anyone with information or needing confidential support can safely come forward.
   

• BART Wants To Launch Policing Drones In East Bay Stations (patch.com) — Walnut Creek BART riders could soon see police using autonomous drones as the agency tests a no-cost pilot aimed at protecting tracks and speeding responses to incidents. While the initial deployment would be between Bay Fair and Hayward, BART is seeking district-wide authority for broad uses ranging from crime response to infrastructure inspections, raising questions about surveillance limits, data retention, and long-term costs.
   

• Governor Newsom Signs Adam's Law (ca.gov) — A new California law backed by Walnut Creek's Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan will impose strict safety rules on AI chatbots used by children, including crisis support and parental controls. The statewide measure, inspired by a teen's death, sets national-leading standards for age verification, limits harmful content, and creates new enforcement powers and legal remedies for affected families.
