1. Senator Laird Secures State Funding for Santa Cruz County Community Projects (ca.gov) — Watsonville is set to benefit from new state funding secured by Senator John Laird, including support for the Watsonville Cultural District and significant technology upgrades at Watsonville Community Hospital. These investments aim to strengthen local arts, modernize medical care, and help stabilize the community-owned hospital's finances while also backing other Santa Cruz County housing, transit, and climate projects.
   

2. Watsonville leaders to discuss Flock contract (santacruzlocal.org) — Watsonville residents should know the City Council will soon debate whether to continue its contract with Flock Safety, whose 37 license-plate cameras are heavily used by local police. Supporters say the cameras help solve serious crimes, while a group called Get the Flock Out urges ending the deal over past data-sharing with out-of-state and immigration-related agencies.
   

3. KSBW 8 Flag Football Game of the Week: Pajaro Valley beats Watsonville, 21-13 (ksbw.com) — Watsonville sports fans saw the Wildcatz drop a close Mission Division flag football matchup to Pajaro Valley, 21-13, in a battle of previously undefeated teams. After Watsonville led into the fourth quarter behind quarterback Aaliyah Arellano, Pajaro Valley's late touchdowns and clutch conversions sealed the comeback and kept the Grizzlies' league-title hopes strong.
   

4. Rainbow Conference brings LGBTQ+ youth, families together - Aptos Life (aptoslife.com) — Watsonville families can join hundreds of LGBTQ+ youth and allies at the free Rainbow Conference at Watsonville High School on Sept. 26, featuring student-led workshops, a resource fair, and bilingual programming. Three parallel tracks will support teens, adult allies, and younger children, with sessions on mental health, healthy relationships, legal rights, and building affirming school communities across the Central Coast.
