(sacbee.com) — A long-planned bridge connecting Sacramento’s Railyards to West Sacramento has hit a major snag, with construction bids coming in up to $250 million over expectations. The over-budget I Street Bridge replacement could delay work until next year, even though both cities, Caltrans and local taxes have already committed hundreds of millions to improve riverfront access and future economic development. 
• California Indian Heritage Center Groundbreaking in West Sacramento (hoodline.com) — Construction is finally starting on the long-planned California Indian Heritage Center on the West Sacramento riverfront, with phase one aiming to open by fall 2026. The 51-acre site will feature outdoor gathering spaces, cultural displays, and future riverfront trails, and state officials are asking residents to review CEQA documents and participate in upcoming outreach as plans advance.
• Texas Rangers show resilience, comeback ability in wild and windy win over the Athletics (dallasnews.com) — A wild, wind-whipped MLB game at West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Field saw the Texas Rangers rally late to beat the A’s 9–6, with multiple lead changes in the final innings. Players described the gusts as some of the worst they’ve ever faced, turning routine fly balls into adventures and giving local fans an unusually dramatic afternoon at the ballpark.
