• California city to cut police force amid ‘unsustainable' budget deficit (amedpost.com) — Willows is set to lose its contracted law enforcement coverage on June 30, after the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office said it can no longer afford to police the city under the current deal. The sheriff says Willows hasn’t been paying the full cost, while city leaders insist they’re committed to public safety and sought mediation. Starting July 1, 911 calls from Willows will be routed to CHP or the Willows Fire Department until a new policing plan is in place.
