The committee is still debating whether closures are financially necessary and will meet again April 29 in Joshua Tree to refine recommendations for the school board.
   

• Horrifying moment big rig careens into cement truck in deadly pileup on major freeway (nypost.com) — A 62-year-old man from Yucca Valley was killed when his cement truck was struck by a big rig in a fiery eight-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Thousand Palms. The collision, which badly injured the other driver and snarled traffic, remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
