Arvada considers ordinance restricting where sex offenders can live (denvergazette.com) — Arvada officials are weighing a new ordinance that would limit where sex offenders, especially those deemed sexually violent, can establish new residences near local schools, daycares, parks, and trails. With 216 registered offenders already living in the city, councilmembers are leaning toward 500-foot limits for most offenders and 1,000-foot buffers for sexually violent offenders, while trying to preserve access to Arvada's valued trail system.
   

2. Don't Let Supplies Fall, Donate Blood (redcross.org) — Arvada residents have two convenient chances this month to donate blood locally, with Red Cross drives at Arvada City Hall on September 11 and the Apex Community Recreation Center on September 24. Donors can earn small thank-you gifts on select dates while helping stabilize Colorado's vulnerable blood supply, and can schedule appointments online, by app, or by phone to save time with RapidPass.
   

3. Fan-made Broncos fight song picked up for Madden NFL 27 video game (arvadapress.com) — An Arvada musician's fan-made Broncos fight song, "The Broncos Salute," has exploded in popularity and is now featured in the Madden NFL 27 video game. Richie Cook, who recorded the track with a friend, says the chant-style anthem has united fans online and hopes it will soon echo through Empower Field as part of the team's in-stadium music.
   

4. Arvada West flag football rallies late versus Valor Christian at Trailblazer Stadium (coloradopreps.com) — Arvada West High School's flag football team stayed unbeaten in 5A Jeffco play with a late rally over Valor Christian, highlighted by a long touchdown pass and a decisive pick-six. The Wildcats, now 7-1, have already beaten rivals like Ralston Valley and will face Denver North next, as they prepare for a tougher second half of the season.
   

5. 8 suspects arrested, 2 at large in connection with hundreds of violent Denver crimes (denvergazette.com) — A major multi-agency investigation into violent crime has tied hundreds of shootings, robberies, and burglaries to a group operating across 10 metro jurisdictions, including Arvada. Eight suspects are in custody and two remain at large, all facing Colorado Organized Crime Control Act charges. Residents are urged to share tips with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers as the investigation continues.
