📰 News we're reading
• Arvada tabling proposed drought surcharges as residents work to conserve water (arvadapress.com) — Arvada has shelved proposed drought surcharges for now because residents have already cut water use by about 14%, putting the city close to its 20% savings goal. City leaders still warn this is a serious, multi-year drought, with stepped-up enforcement, fines for water waste, and the possibility that surcharges and an extended drought declaration could return as soon as spring 2027.

• Veteran arts journalist pens play detailing mother's foundational role with the Arvada Citizen (arvadapress.com) — Arvada readers get a look back at the trailblazing reporter who helped build the Arvada Citizen while raising eight kids and even running for Jeffco clerk. Her son, longtime arts writer John Moore, has turned her story and that era's ambitious Arvada women into a new play, "The Crime Reporter," debuting with staged readings in Fort Collins next month.
