The Paradise Creek Fire by Glenwood Springs is now fully contained, but crews are still battling the Spring Creek Fire northeast of Ruedi, where steep terrain, wind and redā€‘flag conditions are complicating suppression efforts.

A new $4.5 million grant closes much of the funding gap for the $25 million deal, with Pitkin County eyeing a $1.5 million contribution. The goal is long-term, resident-controlled affordability for nearly 100 families.
