2. JoAnn ‘Jo' Gwendolyn Coffman (soprissun.com) — Longtime Carbondale resident JoAnn “Jo” Coffman, 94, has passed away at Sopris Lodge, surrounded by family and caregivers. A former Roaring Fork Valley teacher, rancher, world traveler, and devoted homemaker, she spent decades on the Coffman Ranch and wintering in Arizona. In lieu of services, her family invites neighbors to honor her by baking her favorite sour cream chocolate cake and, if desired, donating to PEO Chapter HC in Carbondale.

3. Coal Ridge track, Glenwood swim headline spring All-State rosters (postindependent.com) — Carbondale’s Roaring Fork Rams athletes are well represented on this spring’s All-State lists, from girls lacrosse standouts playing at Carbondale Middle School to track, soccer and baseball honorees. Glenwood Springs swimmers and Coal Ridge track stars also earned top statewide recognition, underscoring how strong Garfield County’s prep sports scene has become.

4. Grant bolsters fundraising efforts at Cavern Springs Mobile Home Park (aspendailynews.com) — Residents of Cavern Springs Mobile Home Park, located between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, just secured a $4.5 million Colorado Health Foundation grant to help them buy their park and become a resident-owned community. With over $11.5 million now pledged, they’re preparing a purchase offer while Pitkin County considers a $1.5 million contribution, following similar resident takeovers of parks in Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.

5. Willow Creek fire contained after burning 10 acres (westernslopenow.com) — Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District helped contain a 10-acre Willow Creek fire in Rifle that damaged an apartment building and briefly displaced residents. With Garfield County now under Stage 1 fire restrictions, officials urge everyone in the region, including Carbondale residents, to be extra cautious as hot, dry, windy conditions increase wildfire risk.
