1. New Colorado Springs music venue has incredible history behind it (westword.com) — A historic downtown Colorado Springs landmark at 221 E. Kiowa St. is being transformed into CityAud, a 4,000-seat music and events venue slated to open in early 2027. Led by promoter and entrepreneur Jesse Morreale, the project will modernize the old Municipal Auditorium with major stage upgrades, new lounges and a smaller theater, aiming to attract big-name concerts and diverse events.

2. City Council approves new plan to develop more than 1,100 acres of Banning Lewis Ranch neighborhoods (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs City Council has approved major rezoning for about 1,170 acres in Banning Lewis Ranch, paving the way for roughly 5,000 new single-family homes, parks, schools, and a future fire station. The plans add more green space and lower housing density than earlier concepts, but details on park maintenance and final land-use approvals are still being worked out.

OneBody Fitness Studio opens in Downtown COS (fox21news.com) — A longtime Pilates-focused fitness studio has secured a permanent home in downtown Colorado Springs, buying connected properties on South Tejon Street and adding its own parking lot. OneBody Fitness Studio is expanding into a wellness hub, with most suites already leased and just two spaces still available for independent providers and future clients.

Colorado Springs man rescues bear from truck, but not the truck from the bear (koaa.com) — A Colorado Springs couple is warning neighbors after a bear slipped into their unlocked vehicle near the Broadmoor and caused thousands in damage, all caught on surveillance video. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials based in the city urge residents to report bear encounters, secure trash and food, and actively scare bears away to prevent more serious conflicts.

The voice of Labor Day Lift Off looks to the next 50 years of the event (kktv.com) — Colorado Springs' long-running Labor Day Lift Off owes much of its familiar energy to announcer Art Lloyd Jr., who's voiced balloon launches and glows for years. He highlights the festival's roughly $20 million economic impact and worries future housing growth could limit safe balloon landing spots, urging residents to keep enjoying the event while they can.
