2. Suspect arrested after allegedly setting Colorado Springs apartment complex on fire twice (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs police arrested a 60-year-old man Friday in connection with two intentionally set fires at The Peaks at Woodmen apartments that forced evacuations the night before. Investigators used license plate readers and a drone to track his vehicle to East Library before taking him into custody on arson and stalking charges. Court records show prior local criminal cases, and his bail had not been set by Friday evening.
   

3. 8-year-old Colorado girl surprised by bear in her kitchen, dad calmly saves the day (koaa.com) — A Colorado Springs family in the Broadmoor area recently shooed a bear out of their kitchen after it wandered in through an open door, leaving them more cautious about wildlife. Using their story, Colorado Parks and Wildlife shares detailed tips on securing trash, handling bear encounters, and camping safely in bear country.
   

4. Colorado Springs canine crimefighter Koa gets body armor! (kktv.com) — A Colorado Springs police dog named Koa just received a bullet- and stab-resistant vest, giving his handler and the community extra peace of mind. Donated through a national nonprofit and a local sponsor, the armor will protect Koa during building searches, tracking, and firearms-detection work across the city.
   

5. Fans near and far celebrate 'big-time football feel' at Pikes Peak Kickoff Classic (gazette.com) — High school football fans packed downtown's Weidner Field for the inaugural Pikes Peak Kickoff Classic, featuring Fountain-Fort Carson vs. Colorado Springs Christian in flag football and Palmer Ridge vs. La Cueva in varsity play. Players, students, and organizers praised the big-time atmosphere and central location, saying it gave Colorado Springs prep sports a new stage. Organizers hope to grow the event with more regional schools in future seasons.
