I-225 construction in south Denver starting in October (denverpost.com) — Drivers in south Denver should prepare for new lane construction on northbound I-225 between I-25 and South Yosemite Street, running through the Hampden South neighborhood and lasting into December. Expect nighttime and daytime lane and ramp closures, about 10 extra minutes of travel time, and updated closure details on COtrip.org as crews also resurface pavement and improve drainage.

Three Tren de Aragua members sentenced to prison for kidnapping, torture in Denver (cbsnews.com) — Three Tren de Aragua members have each been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a brutal 2024 kidnapping and torture case in Denver, after pleading guilty to attempted kidnapping. Denver police and federal prosecutors praised the victim for reporting the crime, while a fourth defendant awaits sentencing and an alleged gang leader faces related federal charges abroad.

BNSF train strikes vehicle at crossing in Denver's Baker neighborhood (denverpost.com) — A BNSF freight train hit an unoccupied car at a gated crossing near South Kalamath Street and West Bayaud Avenue in Denver's Baker neighborhood Saturday evening, but no one was hurt. Video shows the car partially on the tracks before impact, and Denver police report no injuries while BNSF notes the crossing's lights, gates, and bells were functioning.
