Parents and friends shared stories of the boys' kindness, humor, and tight friendship, while also thanking local police, fire, and search and rescue crews and reflecting on the loss felt at Grand Junction High School.

Jostens Renaissance hosts student leadership event at Grand Junction High School (kjct8.com) — Students from Grand Junction and nearby schools packed Grand Junction High on Thursday for a Jostens Renaissance leadership event focused on building stronger, more positive school cultures. About 500 middle and high schoolers practiced confidence-building activities and met new peers, while educators picked up tools to support student leadership and community-minded change on campus.

Roice-Hurst Humane Society completes new animal care campus expansion (kkco11news.com) — Roice-Hurst Humane Society in Grand Junction has just opened a 3,000‑square‑foot expansion that includes a permanent low‑cost spay and neuter clinic, replacing services lost when another clinic closed. The project also consolidates staff offices and will let the shelter send its mobile surgery bus back into neighborhoods, expanding affordable pet care for families across Mesa County and the Grand Valley.

Red Cross Announces Western Colorado Blood Drives (redcross.org) — Western Slope residents, including those in Grand Junction, can roll up their sleeves for several Red Cross blood drives happening Sept. 28–Oct. 2, including a new site at Colorado Mesa University. With supplies still recovering from a summer shortage, organizers stress that every donation helps ensure local patients have the blood they need heading into winter.

5. Clifton Water District addresses tap water discoloration (kkco11news.com) — Some Clifton residents just east of Grand Junction noticed discolored tap water Thursday after hydraulic testing at the Clifton Water District's treatment plant stirred up naturally occurring sediment. District officials say the water remains safe to use and that the discoloration should clear as flows return to normal, asking residents for patience while the system settles.
