ā¢ Trails taking shape in open space waiting to be realized west of Colorado Springs (gazette.com) ā New trails are being carved into Manitou Springsā Black Canyon Open Space, with about 330 feet already built and a two-mile network of loops envisioned. The cityās parks director expects more work this summer, plus a future pedestrian bridge, trailhead, and safer access from El Paso Boulevard. If timelines hold, residents could see finished trails before the formal entrance opens in 2026 or 2027.

While wildfire mitigation is encouraged, it is not mandatory, and anyone making penalty threats is misleading you. Residents with concerns are urged to call the City or Manitou Springs Fire Department directly. Ā Ā Ā
ā¢ Broad Coalition Ask Colorado Contractors to Withdraw Proposed Initiative 175 (yellowscene.com) ā Manitou Springs is represented in a broad statewide coalitionāvia Pedestrian and Cycle Manitou Springsāurging highway contractors to withdraw Coloradoās proposed Initiative 175, which they say would slash Medicaid, Kā12, and higherāed funding. The letter argues the roadāfunding plan raids existing tax dollars, risks $1ā2 billion in budget impacts, and could raise tuition and strain health care for vulnerable residents. Ā Ā Ā
