• Colorado has some of the nation's costliest home insurance. The Grand Valley seems immune (gjsentinel.com) — Homeowners in Orchard Mesa currently enjoy the lowest average home insurance premiums in Colorado, around $2,079 a year, far below the statewide average above $4,000. Experts say the Grand Valley’s relative lack of major hail, wind, and wildfire disasters keeps claims low, though premiums have still risen sharply since 2020. Local agents expect future increases to be slower but warn big disasters could change that.

• Family-friendly summer activities available across Grand Junction (kkco11news.com) — Orchard Mesa Pool is now open for the summer, giving local families a nearby spot to cool off alongside Lincoln Park and Palisade pools. Grand Junction Parks and Recreation is also running youth camps, updated parks like Columbine Park, and free playground and trail access all season. Check the city’s online activity guide for schedules, costs, and registration details.
