• Apex Waste accepting paint for recycling (steamboatpilot.com) — Steamboat Springs residents can now drop off unwanted house paint, stain and varnish for free at Apex Waste Solutions on Downhill Drive, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The PaintCare program limits drop-offs to five gallons per visit and excludes aerosols, leaking, unlabelled or empty containers. With this site, Steamboat now has three convenient PaintCare locations for responsible paint disposal.

• Outlaw Gravel gives back, honors late local's dedication to Routt County kids (steamboatpilot.com) — A new gravel cycling event starting at Howelsen Hill, Outlaw Gravel, is honoring the legacy of late Smartwool executive and SBT GRVL founder Mark Satkiewicz, who helped make Steamboat Springs a premier gravel destination. Proceeds support the Dirt to Snow – Mark Satkiewicz Legacy Fund, which opens biking and snow-sport opportunities for Routt County youth through the Boys & Girls Club and other programs.

After painful recovery and relearning her skills, she’s now largely pain-free and steadily regaining strength. Her story highlights both the challenges of spinal surgery and how staying active can speed recovery for young athletes.
