Naturally caused wildfire surpasses 1,000 acres near Colorado-New Mexico border, more firefighting resources requested (gazette.com) — A fast-growing wildfire just southeast of Trinidad has burned over 1,000 acres with no containment yet, prompting a disaster declaration and heavy air and ground response. Las Animas County is under strict fire restrictions, Lake Dorothey is closed, and residents are urged to sign up for emergency alerts through the City of Trinidad’s website as more critical fire weather is expected.
