Man Impaled By Stick At Old Furnace State Park In Killingly

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

KILLINGLY, CT — A 49-year-old man was impaled by a stick at Old Furnace State Park on Tuesday.

Emergency responders had to extricate the victim out of the woods to be transferred to a medical helicopter, according to Bill Flood, media relations manager for the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection.

The South Killingly Fire Department posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon asking people to avoid the area “as crews work to mitigate the emergency.”

The park, off South Frontage Road, features about 314 acres of state-owned forest, according to the Killingly Conservation Commission.
