Motorist Seriously Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash On Route 8 In Watertown: Police
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, according to state police.
WATERTOWN, CT — A 79-year-old motorist was seriously injured over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 southbound, state police said.
The accident happened Sunday around 2:58 p.m. in the area of Exit 38, according to state police.
Police said a Ford pickup truck was traveling in the right lane of two when a Pontiac Solstice, a sports car, attempted to pass it on the right.

The Pontiac collided with the truck then traveled across the left lane and hit a metal guard rail, police said.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 79-year-old Thomaston man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Waterbury Hospital.

The pickup truck driver, a 44-year-old man from Franklinville, New York, was not injured.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
