Details on timing
"Today starts with a chance for snow, especially inland that could create a coating up to 0.5″, otherwise mostly cloudy. Isolated to scattered snow showers are possible during the afternoon. The steadier snow doesn’t begin to work into CT until the evening hours form south to north - so any plans before then should be good to go," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Tonight, snowfall will really begin to ramp up and conditions will deteriorate. Snowfall rates will increase to 1-2″ per hour and thundersnow can’t be ruled out. Snowfall rates could exceed 2″ per hour across eastern CT heading into Monday morning."
"The storm is expected to peak around daybreak Monday, with heavy snow continuing until midday and gradually tapering off in the evening," added WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Snowfall totals have been trending up with this storm, and our latest forecast is for 10-20″ of snow for most of the state, with locally higher amounts possible. If current model trends continue, the lower end of that scale would be through the CT river valley and locally higher amounts are expected across eastern CT."
