Connecticut Energy Assistance Program Now Accepting Applications For 2026-2027 Heating Season (patch.com) — Branford households who struggle with heating costs can now apply for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program, which offers $355–$705 in help for the 2026–27 season depending on income, family size, and fuel type. Residents can apply online, by phone, email, mail, or in person through their local Community Action Agency, but applications must be submitted or postmarked by May 31, 2027.

Man kidnapped 5-year-old following New Haven domestic dispute, police say (newstimes.com) — Police say a man accused of kidnapping a 5-year-old from a New Haven bus stop was tracked down and arrested at a Branford hotel, where he was taken into custody on serious charges. The child was safely recovered earlier in Bridgeport, and the suspect is being held on a total of $300,000 bond while facing kidnapping and related counts.
