Sandra (Wilson) Duenkel obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Sandra (Wilson) Duenkel, 67 of New Haven passed away on May 6, 2026. She was the widow of Edmund W. Duenkel. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Katherine (Donovan) Wilson; her brother, Michael Wilson, and several aunts and uncles.

Sandy is survived by her brother, Jay Wilson (Joanne) of Beacon Falls, her sisters, Susan Fanning (Shawn) of Branford, and Sharon Smarz (Mark) of Shelton, and her stepson, Edmund W. Duenkel, II along with her much loved niece and nephews: Olivia Smarz of Indiana, Christopher Wilson of New Jersey and Brian Wilson and his partner Aubrey Dodd, of Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her beloved sister-in-law, Judi Becker (Fred) of California, as well as several cherished friends: Debra and Rich Hayducky of Shelton, Dawn Santacroce of Middletown, Pat "Patty Me Boy" DeAngelo (Sharon) of Broadbrook.

Sandy graduated from Shelton High School in 1977. She held a variety of jobs over the years, her favorite of which was waitressing at The Quinnipiac Club in New Haven, where she worked for 11+ years. Most recently, she worked for the Southern Connecticut Gas Company (Avangrid) starting in 2010.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 12, 2026 from 9 AM until 10:30 AM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave, East Haven at which time her funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 385 Townsend Avenue, New Haven, CT. Burial will be private.
