New Details In Shooting Of 18-Year-Old In Bridgeport: Update

BRIDGEPORT, CT — An 18-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds Thursday afternoon in a shooting in the 300 block of Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police.
"Party was shot 3 times and is alert, conscious, and breathing," Shawnna White, Bridgeport's Public Information Officer, wrote in a statement. "Transport to the hospital in progress."
The initial call to police came in at 3:52 p.m. as an assault with a weapon, but the city's ShotSpotter system also detected four gunshots in the area.

White said that the victim was found in a parking lot of a public housing complex before being transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center.
A heavy police presence was in the Trumbull Avenue area following the shooting on Thursday.

"A crime scene has been established, and the Detective Bureau is on scene and investigating," White said. "There are no suspects in custody at this time."
