Amazon Delivery Driver Slashed In Face During Attempted Robbery In Bridgeport: Police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport police are investigating after an Amazon delivery driver was slashed in the face Tuesday morning in what police believe was an attempted robbery.

Shortly before noon, the injured driver approached a Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officer at Railroad and Myrtle avenues and reported that he had been slashed in the face with a weapon on Park Terrace in the city's South End, according to authorities.

The driver, who was bleeding heavily, was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent's Medical Center with a significant facial wound that was not considered to be a threat to his life.

The 28-year-old victim told a responding Bridgeport police officer that he was making a delivery in his private vehicle when two people on motor scooters boxed him in. The suspects were dressed in black clothing and wore black face masks and helmets, according to the victim.

One of the scooters struck his vehicle, the victim said, and when he confronted the suspects, one of them slashed him in the face, according to police.

The suspects fled east on Railroad Avenue on the scooters.

A family member later drove the victim's vehicle from the area of Railroad and Myrtle avenues.

Police said they believe the incident was likely an attempted robbery.
