1. 4 years later, Bristol honors fallen officers DeMonte and Hamzy (wtnh.com) — Bristol is marking four years since Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy were killed in an ambush while responding to a call on Redstone Hill Road. The police department is asking residents to turn on blue lights in remembrance, while a memorial at headquarters keeps community messages and memories of the officers’ service alive.
   

2. Craft Fair at Bristol Senior Center is unofficial kick off to crafting season (bristolpress.com) — Bristol residents can browse handmade crafts, baked goods, and a Christmas tag sale at the Bristol Senior Center’s big annual Craft Fair on Oct. 23–24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. With about 50 vendor tables, free admission, and the coffee shop open for breakfast and sandwiches, it’s also one of the center’s key fundraisers.
   

3. New hires ready to care, maintain Bristol's parks (bristolpress.com) — Bristol has hired two new full-time park maintainers, Brianna Dinice and Jose Cancel, to help care for nearly 1,000 acres of local parkland, from Muzzy Field to trails and playscapes. Dinice becomes the city’s first female laborer, while Cancel brings years of experience and bilingual skills to better serve Bristol’s diverse community.
   

4. You can help Bristol college student win Miss U of Alabama pageant (bristolpress.com) — A Bristol college student, Peyton Troth, is vying for the Miss University of Alabama title and is asking neighbors back home for support. Residents can donate $1 per vote via Venmo or PayPal through Oct. 17, helping her compete for scholarships and a year of service on campus.
