Family ‘Lost Everything’ In Devastating House Fire In Cheshire
The longtime Cheshire residents "lost absolutely everything except the clothes on their back," according to family.
CHESHIRE, CT — The community is rallying around a Cheshire family after a devastating house fire earlier this month.
Mary Kate Bykowski said her sister Cara Luciani and her brother-in-law Chris “lost everything” in the fire.
“The fire happened during the day and by the time they got to the house it was a complete loss,” Bykowski wrote in a post on GoFundMe.

“Cara and Chris have lived and worked in the Cheshire community their entire lives,” Bykowski wrote in a post on the GoFundMe page. “Cara has worked for the Cheshire library for over 30 years. She started as a volunteer when she was 16 and is 60+ now. They have two sons, Collin and Connor, who live out of state. They have lost absolutely everything except the clothes on their back due to fire, smoke, and water damage. I am asking for any help to get them through this immediate period where they are trying to figure out the next step. The process is difficult and quite heartbreaking.”
Nearly $16,900 has been raised in the GoFundMe campaign (as of Friday afternoon).
