Danbury Woman In Baby Death Case Told Police She Abandoned Another Infant: Affidavit

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury woman accused of leaving her newborn son in a dumpster told investigators she abandoned another newborn in a wooded area behind her home in 2019, according to newly unsealed arrest and search warrant affidavits.

Dominique Harrison, 28, is charged with murder with special circumstances in connection with the death of her first newborn son, whose remains were discovered in Stamford in 2018 after investigators determined he had been killed in Danbury.

During Harrison's arraignment last month, prosecutors said the case remained under investigation and warned additional serious charges could be forthcoming.

The newly unsealed affidavits show Harrison told investigators she had been pregnant three times — in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The documents also outline an ongoing investigation into the 2019 pregnancy and detail the surrender of a third newborn under Connecticut's Safe Haven law in 2021.

According to the affidavits, Harrison initially told detectives she brought a baby she delivered at home in November 2019 to Danbury Hospital. Investigators later determined there was no record of the child being treated there.

Harrison later told detectives she wrapped the newborn in a Snoopy blanket and left him in a wooded area behind her Prince Street home while he was still alive. She returned the next morning and found the baby dead before disposing of the body in a recycling dumpster near her home, according to the affidavits.

The documents also state investigators seized the blanket Harrison said she used and sent it to the state forensic laboratory for DNA testing.

The affidavits also show Harrison gave birth to a third son in 2021. Investigators believe she initially intended to abandon that newborn in the woods as well, but the infant instead survived after being surrendered at Danbury Hospital under Connecticut's Safe Haven law and was later adopted.

Harrison remains held on a $2.5 million bond and is scheduled to return to Danbury Superior Court for a pretrial hearing on July 24.
