Carmel “Chubby” Fico obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Carmel “Chubby” Fico, 85 of New Haven passed away March 3, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1940 in New Haven to Lillian Antoinette Garguilo. Carmel is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Pasquale “Pat” Fico and two children; Vincent Fico (Karla) of Northford and Annette Fico of New Haven along with two step-children; Jacqueline Fico (James) of Branford and Patricia Formica of East Haven. Carmel is also survived by her pride and joy, five grandchildren; Gabriella Fico, Gianna Fico, Ramon Gonzalez, Olivia Vega and Erika Formica along with one great grandson, Nikko Gonzalez. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Vitale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carmel is preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Peter Bellucci.

Carmel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going to the casino to play the slots and bowling. Still to this day, Carmel made the “world’s BEST meatballs.” She has worked at the West Haven Housing Authority, Reitman Personal and American Residential Mortgage Company.

Family will receive friends on Friday March 6, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT 06512. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 7 at 10 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Bernadette, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven CT with Committal/Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
