Man Hospitalized After Fourth of July Knife Attack At W. Frontage Rd. Eatery : EHPD

EAST HAVEN, CT — A violent knife attack at a local eatery late Saturday night left one man injured, according to East Haven police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.

It was just before midnight on July 4 when cops were called to the Fiesta Bar & Grill, 43 West Frontage Road, after receiving a report of a "large fight involving a large group of people," Murgo said.

While responding, patrol officers learned that "multiple individuals were assaulting a single person," Murgo said. When officers got on scene, they found an "altercation had spilled into the nearby Wendy's parking lot," police said.

An adult man was "suffering from multiple stab wounds and other injuries consistent with an assault," Murgo said.

"Officers immediately rendered medical aid until members of the East Haven Fire Department arrived on scene to provide further treatment," police said, and man was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

"During the initial investigation, officers established a perimeter, processed the scene, and recovered physical evidence, including a knife. Detectives have also obtained surveillance video from the area and continue working to identify everyone involved.

An active and ongoing investigation, Murgo said police detectives are seeking witnesses to the incident and anyone who "has cellphone video, dash camera footage, or any information that may assist investigators" to contact the East Haven Police Department Detective Bureau at (203) 468-3820.
