Obituary: Eugene N. Rodman (Porto Funeral Homes)
Porto Funeral Homes (East Haven/West Haven)

Eugene Nicholas Rodman, born on January 29, 1942, in New Haven, CT, passed away suddenly on February 24, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Beloved father of Susan Rodman, Nicholas Rodman and the late David Rodman, son of the late Nicholas and Regina Vitkus Rodman. Eugene is also survived by his former wife Deborah Sloan and was predeceased by his first wife Jayne Herr Rodman.
Eugene pursued his education at Quinnipiac College and went on to become a certified public accountant. His passion for numbers was unparalleled, and he continued working diligently until his illness (cancer) stopped him, even asking his son Nicholas about his taxes just one week before his passing.
In 1963, Eugene served a short, but honorable time in the army before being discharged. He was proud; he kept all the army paperwork laminated in a folder. Throughout his career, he was an accountant for Welsbach Lighting, Nova Printing, and later as a private accountant until his heath declined.

Apart from his professional achievements, Eugene found immense joy in his hobbies and interests. One of his greatest accomplishments was buying land in North Branford and building a house for his family. He also enjoyed stock market trading and meticulously keeping all his past handwritten tax documents. He had a passion for computers and was proud to own one of the first sold to customers + his collection of many more.
A special message from Eugene’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. James Hanson, radiation oncologist at Yale New Haven Hospital, for treating Eugene with 100% respect and dignity, giving them hope during a challenging time, when others lost hope. The family would also express their gratitude and appreciation to Shirley, who took care of dad at home. “She showed the epitome of love and caring towards dad in his worst time”
