Ellington Schools Adds New Hire

The new hire is set to join the district following the Board of Education's August meeting.

ELLINGTON, CT — Ellington Public Schools has appointed Charles Carey as its new director of finance and operations, Superintendent Susan Nash announced.

Carey is expected to be welcomed by the Board of Education at its August meeting. He previously served as business manager for Clinton Public Schools, where he handled the district’s budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing, grants, contracts, audits and regulatory compliance, according to Ellington Public Schools.

In Ellington, Carey will oversee finance and operations and work with First Student on transportation, the district said. The role also includes oversight of transportation.

Carey has experience in school finance, operations, human resources and personnel planning. He has also served as a board of education member and board chair, the district said.

“I am thrilled to have Charles on board as our next Director of Finance and Operations,” Nash said in a statement. “His knowledge and experience, combined with his ability to navigate complex challenges and find practical solutions, will be an important asset to Ellington Public Schools.”

Nash said she looks forward to Carey’s perspective on the district’s financial and operational planning in the years ahead.
