Somers Plans Big Celebration Saturday

SOMERS, CT — Somers will mark America250 with a free, daylong community celebration Saturday at Field Road Park, inviting residents to bring chairs, blankets, coolers and settle in for activities, music, demonstrations and food.

The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, and will conclude with a drone light show at 8:30 p.m. by Sky Elements Drone Shows, according to the town’s event schedule.

Sky Elements, which describes itself as the nation’s largest drone light-show provider, will present the aerial display as the grand finale of the celebration. USA Waste & Recycling is sponsoring the show.

Organizers said the event will include free activities and demonstrations, along with music and food vendors throughout the day.

The announced vendors are Ajalicia’s Sweets, Fellowship Cafe, Fortune Fuel, Four A’s Food Truck, Jeff’s Kettle Corn, Knights of Columbus Council 4303, Kona Ice, Luann’s Bakery, Rotary Club of Somers, Smokehouse at Sonny’s Place, Somers Lions Club and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee.
