How 10 Northern CT Town Budgets Stack Up For 2026-27 (patch.com) — Northern Connecticut residents can now see how Enfield's newly adopted 2026-27 budget stacks up against nine neighboring towns, with Enfield's spending rising 5.42 percent to $166.26 million and schools accounting for just over half. The piece compares mill rates, education shares, and the long string of referendums several towns, including Enfield's neighbors, needed before their budgets finally passed.
   

2. Enfield Wants A Robot To Paint Its Athletic Fields (patch.com) — Enfield is exploring a GPS-guided robot to paint lines on its many athletic fields, aiming to reduce manual measuring and striping work for town crews. The Department of Public Works has issued a request for proposals due Sept. 9, as it looks to support maintenance of dozens of fields and hundreds of acres around schools and municipal buildings.

ESPN Founder Bill Rasmussen Never Forgot His Enfield Roots (patch.com) — Longtime Enfield resident and ESPN founder Bill Rasmussen has died at 93, and friends are remembering how deeply he stayed connected to the town. From the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame to visits with local students and residents, Rasmussen frequently returned to celebrate his roots and support the community that helped shape him.
   

4. Connecticut part of landmark $18B settlement with Meta (nbcconnecticut.com) — Connecticut has joined a massive settlement with Meta worth up to $18 billion, bringing new safeguards for kids on social media and hundreds of millions to the state. An Enfield mother, Tammy Rodriguez, previously won a related lawsuit after her daughter's death, and officials say the new rules will force Meta to limit late-night use, screen time, and targeted feeds for teens.
