Fairfield Selectpersons To Review Nearly $4.1 Million In Flood Mitigation Contracts

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Board of Selectpersons is scheduled to consider nearly $4.14 million in contracts for two Rooster River flood mitigation projects when it meets Wednesday afternoon.

The board will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in a hybrid format, with members participating via Zoom and in person in the First Floor Conference Room at Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road. Click here to view the agenda.

Two proposed agreements with The Grasso Companies LLC of Stamford for flood mitigation work are set for review.

The board is scheduled to consider authorizing a $2,999,894 contract for the Rooster River Flood Mitigation Project at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course, along with authority for related change orders within available project funding.

Additionally, the is also scheduled to consider a $1,138,000 agreement with the same contractor for flood mitigation work at Tunxis Hill Park, also with authority for change orders within available funding.

The board may also review a proposed agreement with DATTCO Inc. to provide charter bus services for Fairfield Public Schools field trips, athletic events and other charter transportation. The proposed contract would begin with a one-year term and include up to four one-year renewal options.

Another purchasing item would authorize an agreement with S&S Industries of Stamford for grease trap, drain and septic cleaning services for the town and Fairfield Public Schools. The proposed contract also includes an initial one-year term with up to four optional one-year renewals.

The board is also scheduled to consider appointing Sarah M. Mason as Fairfield's Complete Streets Coordinator.

In another possible action, the selectpersons will consider a request from the Harbor Management Commission to name the public fishing and observation pier at the Lower Wharf in Southport in honor of the late Patrick L. Carroll Jr.

The agenda also calls for possible action on $35,015.46 in tax refunds recommended by the town's tax collector.

During the First Selectperson's update, Christine Vitale is expected to provide information on primary election voting, Oldfield Bridge grant funding and a Post Road safety audit.

The board is also scheduled to review and approve minutes from its July 22 meeting before adjourning.
