3. Derby man planned to use cocaine to 'come down' from heroin after crash that killed CTDOT worker: Police report (wtnh.com) — A Connecticut DOT worker from Bridgeport was killed Friday while clearing debris on I-95 South in Fairfield when a car allegedly driven by a Derby man under the influence veered onto the shoulder and struck him. State police say the driver admitted to using heroin and possessing cocaine, leading to multiple serious charges and a $2 million bond after his Fairfield-related arrest and arraignment.
   

4. PopUp Bagels to close Newtown shop as artisanal bakery Fatto a Mano takes over (ctpost.com) — PopUp Bagels is closing its Newtown shop this weekend, but Fairfield residents can still visit the brand's Fairfield location as the company expands nationally. The Newtown space will be taken over by Westport-based artisanal bakery Fatto a Mano, while PopUp continues operating other Connecticut stores, including Fairfield, Westport and Greenwich, with a new Stamford site planned.
   

5. Classroom air quality concerns mount as CT schools fall short on inspections (newstimes.com) — Connecticut lawmakers and education leaders warn that many school districts are not meeting required indoor air quality inspections, raising concerns about mold, heat and aging HVAC systems. Fairfield's Rep. Jennifer Leeper joined others in urging districts, including Fairfield's, to apply for state grants and UConn's free air purifier program to improve classroom conditions and student health.
