Farmington/Avon Communities Unite To Recycle Pumpkins

Sub-Edge Farm in Farmington will accept unpainted pumpkins and gourds as part of a recycling effort sponsored by Avon.

FARMINGTON/AVON, CT — Residents looking for an environmentally friendly way to dispose of their Halloween pumpkins can bring them to a Farmington farm throughout November as part of a pumpkin recycling initiative by an Avon commission.

The Avon Sustainability Commission and Sub-Edge Farm are sponsoring the "Squash Food Waste! Recycle Your Pumpkin" program, which will run from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30.

The initiative encourages residents to recycle their leftover pumpkins and gourds rather than throw them away.
