Greater Hartford Gives Foundation 

The <a href="https://greaterhartfordgives.org/community-funds/greater-hartford-gives-glastonbury-community-fund/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Glastonbury Community Fund</a> at the <a href="https://www.greaterhartfordgives.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Greater Hartford Gives Foundation</a> (formerly the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving), is now accepting applications for its 2026 grant cycle. The Fund is guided by a volunteer committee of Glastonbury residents who engage in participatory grantmaking to support projects that enhance the quality of life for those who live and work in town.
Application period
Applications will be accepted from April 17 through May 22, 2026, with grant awards expected to be announced by the end of June. Starting this year, all community funds are using a common application available through the Foundation’s online grant portal. Interested applicants should visit <a href="https://GreaterHartfordGives.org/glastonburycf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">GreaterHartfordGives.org/glastonburycf</a> for the application and full eligibility guidelines.
Information sessions

Local impact
Over the past five years, the Glastonbury Community Fund has awarded more than $138,000 to organizations serving Glastonbury residents. Typical grant awards range from $2,500 to $7,500.
Recent grantmaking includes:

 <li>2024: $24,500 to eleven organizations</li>
 <li>2023: $21,150 to eight organizations</li>
 <li>2022: $28,000 to eleven organizations</li>

Glastonbury Community Fund Committee members
The Glastonbury Community Fund Committee is composed of the following resident volunteers: Co-chairs Laura Amenta and Laura Hecker, Secretary Linda Cimino, and members Jon Brink, James Hagen, Margaret LaCroix, Donald Kray, Joel Reich, Ira Yellen, Tom Edgington, Carianne Crummett, Kelly Sellew, Bridget Cooper, Diana Velasco, and Molly Lauck.
In 2019, the Hartford Foundation established the Greater Together Community Funds in each of the 29 towns it serves, including Glastonbury with an initial investment of $100,000. In 2021, the Foundation awarded an additional $50,000 to each of the community funds. In January 2025, as part of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Centennial year and the fifth anniversary of the Community Funds program, the Foundation awarded $100,000 to each fund. This includes $50,000 immediately available for grantmaking and $50,000 allocated to endowment.

Officers with the Glastonbury Police Department will host a Tip-A-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut at Giovanni’s Brick Oven Pizzeria located at 113 Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury on Wednesday, April 22 between 5 PM – 9 PM.
During the event, law enforcement will volunteer their time to work with restaurant employees and welcome customers, take orders and serve meals to diners. All tips the officers receive will be dedicated to helping Special Olympics Connecticut provide life-changing sports, health, and fitness programs to athletes of all abilities. Tip-A-Cop is a Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut event. About the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is a year-round program and one of the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. Officers organize and host fundraisers that include but are not limited to Tip-a-Cop, Cop-on-Top and Penguin Plunge events, all to benefit local Special Olympics athletes.
A highlight of the program is the annual three-day Torch Run which takes place every June. During the Torch Run, officers from police departments and law enforcement agencies across the state run and carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" more than 500 miles through their towns and cities to the site of the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games.
