Glastonbury Outlines Fiber-Optic Work Near Fern Street And Imperial Drive

Residents are asked to mark sprinkler heads and pet fences as Parkside Utility prepares underground work.

Glastonbury residents near Fern Street and Imperial Drive are being asked to mark sprinkler heads and pet fences for underground fiber-optic work. In an update dated Friday, Oct. 16, the Town of Glastonbury outlined the installation and plans for work in additional neighborhoods through November.

According to the update, Frontier Communication contractor Parkside Utility expected installation near Fern Street and Imperial Drive to begin in the days following the notice. Parkside estimated that work would take two weeks.

A previous contractor installed some empty conduits and handholes, the underground boxes used in the network, according to the town. Parkside identified where additional conduits are needed. Once the system is complete, the contractor will pull fiber through the conduits and connect it to Frontier's existing system.
