Greenwich Police Warn Of Fraudulent Property Purchase Notifications

Police encouraged residents to stay vigilant, and they offered tips on how to stay safe and protect personal and financial information.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department is warning residents about reports of potentially fraudulent property purchase notifications involving LifeLock, a third-party identity theft protection service.

"The Town of Greenwich has received several inquiries from residents who reported receiving LifeLock alerts indicating that property purchases had allegedly been made in their names," police said in an announcement. "These notifications have raised concerns regarding possible identity theft and unauthorized real estate transactions."

Police said the town does not use LifeLock to monitor property transactions or issue land-record fraud alerts. The service is not affiliated with the town or its official land records system.
