Greenwich Private School Announces Partnership With The Juilliard School

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Country Day School will launch a partnership with The Juilliard School in fall 2026 that will bring performing arts instruction into the school's classrooms and rehearsal spaces, according to an announcement.

The GCDS-Juilliard Collaborative will begin as the school’s new performing arts center takes shape on campus.

"Our commitment to excellence spans every corner of our students' education, from academics and athletics to the arts," said GCDS Head of School Adam Rohdie in a news release. "We are anchoring this incredible physical transformation with an equally transformative programmatic vision."

The initiative marks the first time Juilliard has partnered directly with GCDS to incorporate its instructors into the school’s daily program.

During the 2026-27 school year, specialized Juilliard collaborative instructors will provide ongoing mentorship alongside GCDS music faculty. The instructors will include graduate students, alumni and affiliated artists, with Juilliard overseeing their training and supervision.

"This extends the school's commitment to applied learning, having the best artists work directly with our students, so that they gain a deep understanding of how expert musicians work at the highest level," said GCDS Director of Arts Jesse Tennyson.

The pilot year will include intensive ensemble-based instruction for strings, sectional support for band and string programs in the Upper Elementary and Upper School divisions, coaching opportunities for the Upper School choral program and performances with Juilliard artists during GCDS concerts.

The first year is intended to lay the groundwork for broader collaborations in the future, GCDS said.

Founded in 1905, The Juilliard School provides performing arts education in music, dance and drama. The school, located at Lincoln Center in New York City, is led by President Damian Woetzel.

Juilliard offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, drama and music for gifted students from around the world. More than 800 artists from 42 states and 50 countries and regions are enrolled in its College Division.

The school’s programs also include nearly 400 elementary through high school students in its Preparatory Division and more than 1,200 students in Juilliard Extension.

Juilliard also provides global K-12 curricula and preparatory and graduate studies at The Tianjin Juilliard School in China.
