New Assistant Principal Appointed At Greenwich Middle School
The appointment is effective July 13, according to Greenwich Public Schools.
GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones this week announced that Shawn Hoyt has been appointed assistant principal at Central Middle School, effective July 13.
Hoyt replaces Scott Trungadi, who was recently named the district's educational data and systems program coordinator.
"Mr. Shawn Hoyt had been outstanding in his role as Greenwich High School’s science coordinator, leading the school to the highest Next Generation Science Standards in their history," Jones said in a news release.

"This past school year, he stepped in as the interim assistant principal at Western Middle School to fill a leave-vacancy and instantly connected with students, supported the Special Education program, became familiar with the community’s families, and was a strong support for teachers," Jones added. "Mr. Hoyt is also considered one of the district’s most technically proficient leaders and can step in and fill the void left by Mr. Trungadi. Mr. Hoyt is a perfect fit for Principal Tom Healy’s administration team."
Since 2023, Hoyt has served as the science program administrator at Greenwich High School. He also has served in leadership roles as an academic coach and learning facilitator, working with teachers to create lessons focused on the Next Generation Science Standards through inquiry- and lab-based learning.

"Working alongside the students, families, and staff of Central Middle School will be very professionally fulfilling because middle school is such an important stage in student growth," Hoyt said in a news release. "My goal is to continue to foster a school environment where every student feels known, supported, and challenged each day. Central MS has a reputation of excellence, and I aim to work with the staff and school community to strengthen academic growth and school culture."
Hoyt has worked for Greenwich Public Schools since 2016, when he joined the district as a science teacher at Greenwich High School, where he taught biology and chemistry.
"While the Central MS community will miss Mr. Trungadi who has served the students, families, and staff honorably for the past 11 years, we are excited to welcome Mr. Hoyt to the team," Healy said in a news release. "Mr. Hoyt brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to this role that will greatly benefit our students as we collectively facilitate and support their growth over this critical three year period."
Hoyt began his career in education in 2014 as a science teacher at Tolland High School, where he taught biology, anatomy, and physiology.
He holds a bachelor's degree in sports biology from Springfield College, a master's degree in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, and an Educational Leadership: Intermediate 092 certification from Sacred Heart University.
