Development Proposed At Former Rockefeller Property By Greenwich Academy (patch.com) — Greenwich Academy is moving forward with plans to turn the former Rockefeller family's 54-acre property in central Greenwich into a new K–4 campus, complete with classrooms, athletic facilities, and faculty housing. Access points, traffic impacts, wetlands protections, and phased construction are all outlined as the proposal heads to a pre-application review with the town's Planning and Zoning Commission.

Work Continues On New Central Middle School Site: Here's The Latest (patch.com) — Parents and neighbors in Greenwich can expect continued construction activity around the new Central Middle School, which has been open about a month while demolition and site work proceed. Crews are advancing a new parent drop-off loop, fire pump house, tree plantings, and preparation for athletic fields, with a nearby road closure extended through late October during school-day hours.

3. What is 'cracking cards'? Greenwich police detail alleged fraud scheme (greenwichtime.com) — Greenwich police say a New Rochelle man ran a "cracking cards" fraud scheme that involved stolen checks, altered identities, and suspicious ATM activity on Greenwich Avenue. Officers recovered cash, cards and personal data for more than 30 alleged victims, and detailed how criminals rapidly move money between accounts to hide its origins. The suspect is free on bond pending a Stamford court date.

Greenwich Police Officers Livingston and DeLuca Recognized for Exceptional Police Work (greenwichfreepress.com) — Two Greenwich police officers have been named Officers of the Month for an intensive stretch of work targeting organized retail and financial crime affecting local businesses and residents. Their July investigations led to numerous arrests, major cash and property seizures, and shared intelligence with agencies from Stamford Superior Court to federal partners, helping disrupt multi-state fraud and theft schemes.

Connecticut inmate who faced execution eight times dies at 101 as longest-serving US prisoner (wfsb.com) — A 1949 robbery and killing at Greenwich's Indian Harbor Yacht Club led to Francis Smith's conviction and a death sentence that was later reduced, beginning a 70‑year incarceration that made him the nation's longest‑serving prisoner. Smith, who always maintained his innocence and whose case later drew questions from witnesses and investigators, died this June at 101 in a Rocky Hill nursing facility.
