📰 News we're reading

• Berkley's new Greenwich headquarters will address a longtime neighborhood issue (greenwichtime.com) — Greenwich's Planning & Zoning Commission has unanimously approved Berkley Insurance's plan to demolish and rebuild its Steamboat Road headquarters, promising less noise and light for nearby homes. The new four‑story office will enclose mechanical equipment, add a garage to cut glare, and undergo noise testing before opening, with future talks about replacing extra parking with green space.

• Lots of Community Support for New Operators at Former Kelsey Farm (greenwichfreepress.com) — A proposal to expand horse capacity at the former Kelsey Farm on Lake Avenue, now Serenity Farm, drew strong neighborhood support as Greenwich's P&Z commission reviewed updated operating conditions. Commissioners focused on wetlands, manure management, lesson limits, and traffic, and asked for a clarified operating plan before voting at their Oct. 14 meeting, which will determine how this longstanding backcountry horse property can operate.

• Building Projects Advance Across District (greenwichsentinel.com) — Families in Greenwich should expect continued construction at Central Middle, Riverside, and Old Greenwich schools as major building and renovation projects move forward on staggered timelines. Work ranges from new athletic fields and drop‑off loops to playgrounds, arts spaces, cafeterias, and a kindergarten addition, with some phases stretching into 2028, affecting daily school routines and traffic patterns.
