• Guilford Receives $166K State Grant To Strengthen Special Education Programming (patch.com) — Guilford is set to receive $166,500 from a new state High-Quality Special Education Incentive Grant, aimed at expanding in-district services and reducing costly out-of-district placements. Local schools can use the funds for staffing, assistive technology, facilities improvements, and new specialized programs so more Guilford students with disabilities can learn in their own community.
   

• Seeking cost stability, Middletown manufacturer pays $3.5M for previously leased property (hartfordbusiness.com subscription) — A Middletown manufacturer has bought the industrial building it had been leasing, using a major mortgage from Guilford-based Ascend Bank to help finance the $3.5 million purchase. The deal is meant to stabilize real estate costs for Compass Powder Coatings and signals confidence in Connecticut manufacturing. Local lenders and SBA-backed financing played key roles in making the transaction possible.
