Beloved K-9 Knight Mourned By Hamden Police Department

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department is mourning the death of its beloved K-9 Knight.

Knight was the partner of Hamden Police Capt. Jason Venditto.

“Since joining the department in 2018, Knight faithfully served the Town of Hamden with loyalty, courage, and dedication,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Specializing in Patrol, Evidence Recovery, and Narcotics Detection, Knight played an important role in protecting and serving our community throughout his career.”

Hamden Police Chief E.P. Reynolds said, “K-9 Knight was more than a colleague; he was a trusted partner, a symbol of loyalty and bravery, and a vital part of our team.”

“His service and dedication were evident in every task he undertook, and his absence is profoundly felt by everyone in the department,” Reynolds said in a statement. “Our thoughts and support are with Captain Venditto and his family during this difficult time. The legacy of K-9 Knight will always be honored and remembered with the highest respect.”

“We thank K9 Knight for his years of faithful service and the lasting impact he made on both the department and the community,” police wrote. “Rest easy, Knight.”
