Hamden Black History Committee Announces Annual Program
The public is invited to join the program to highlight this year's theme, "Against All Odds…We Still Rise…" and celebrate the 2026 honorees.
HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Black History Committee will host its annual Black History Month Program from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27 at Thornton Wilder Auditorium, located at 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden.
The public is invited to join to highlight this year’s theme, “Against All Odds…We Still Rise…” and celebrate the 2026 Honorees with a robust program including speakers, entertainment, and refreshments.
“The Hamden Black History Committee raises funds every year for book awards to graduating Hamden High School students,” according to a news release. “In 2025, several donors gave funds that went beyond the goal of 5 book awards. Please help the Hamden Black History Committee provide the 2026 awards by donating to their ‘HamdenBlkHistory’ PayPal account or mailing a check or money order to Hamden Black History Committee, P.O. Box 185344, Hamden, CT 06518. Donations are tax deductible; the Hamden Black History Committee is a 501(c)(3) organization.”

The Black History Month Program is hosted by the Hamden Black History Committee and the Mayor’s Office with the support from the Cultural Affairs & Human Services Department.
